Thinner is a chemical compound used to reduce viscosity of adhesive so as to endow adhesive with good penetration. Sometimes, the thinner can reduce the activity of adhesive, so as to prolong the lifespan of adhesive.
Thinner can be classified into inactive thinner and active thinner.
Inactive thinner: the molecule in the thinner doesn’t contain active group, mostly inert solution, such as: ethanol, acetone and toluene etc. during the thinning process, the thinner will not participate in the reaction, but just mix into resin and to reduce the viscosity. Besides the function of thinning, it also has some impact on the mechanical property, heat deformation temperature and ageing damage. The volatile speed should be taken into account, if too fast, the gel surface is easy to form into membrane, impairing the spill of solution from inside; if too slow, some solution will stay inside the gel layer, affecting the bonding strength. Active thinner means the thinner with the molecule containing the active group. During the thinning process, it will participate in the reaction and also function to enhance the resilience.
introduction of thinner commonly used
515-Thinner
Appearance: colorless and transparent liquid
Property: standard thinner for silk printing ink, with little aromatics, quick volatile speed.
Application: dilution for the silk printing ink and washing.
616-Slow-drying Thinner
Appearance: colorless and transparent liquid
Property: slow-drying thinner for silk printing ink, with slow speed of drying, helpful for the foam removing, flattening and lightening increasing, effectively preventing silk plugging.
Application: dilution for the silk printing ink and washing.
UV-SG Thinner
Appearance: colorless and transparent liquid
Property: it belongs to UV type of thinner, which can effectively reduce the viscosity of UV printing ink.
Application: the general dilution additive for UV printing ink, with dose of 5-10% of ink weight.
